A6-EQC, a Boeing 777-300 aircraft operated by Emirates, was conducting flight UAE235 from Dubai Intl, United Arab Emirates (OMDB) to Chicago/O’Hare Intl, IL (KORD) with 18 crew members and 355 passengers on board. Approximately 65 nautical miles South East of Iqaluit, NU (CYFB) while cruising at FL360, the flight crew received the ENG FUEL VALVE R message on the EICAS, followed by ENG FAIL R message. The flight crew declared a PAN PAN due to the number 2 engine (GE 90-115B) power loss, and requested a diversion to Goose Bay, NL (CYYR) at FL250. An attempt to restart the engine was carried out, however unsuccessfully. The right engine was secured and the aircraft continued to CYYR where an uneventful landing was carried out at 1835Z.

No one was injured.
