Homebuilt Loses Prop

Oct. 20/14The privately operated PegaStol amateur built aircraft (C-FYCW) was returning from a local flight to Lyncrest Airport (CJL5) in Winnipeg, MB. While maneuvering for runway 09 at an altitude of 1000 feet agl and approximately 1 mile north of the airport, a loud noise was heard and the aircraft’s propeller (Sensenich) separated from the aircraft engine (Jabiru 2200). The pilot, who was the sole occupant, conducted a forced landing on runway 17 with no further damage. The pilot did not sustain any injuries. The propeller was recovered and it was observed that the propeller bolts broke at the crankshaft propeller flange.
