PAL Airlines – Bombardier DHC-8-300 – Fuel Imbalance

2018-04-15
C-GVPA, a Bombardier DHC-8-300 aircraft operated by PAL Airlines, was conducting flight PVL928 from Gander Intl, NL (CYQX) to St. John’s Intl, NL (CYYT). As the flight prepared for the descent into CYYT, the flight crew noticed a fuel imbalance, with the right fuel quantity indicating approximately 350 lbs lower than the left. The flight crew requested that the flight attendant visually check for signs of fuel leaking from the right wing area; however, no fuel leak was observed. As a precaution, the flight crew declared PAN PAN and requested ARFF on standby to inspect the aircraft after landing. The flight landed at CYYT without further incident and shut down on the runway for ARFF inspection. No sign of leaking fuel was observed and the crew taxied the aircraft to the gate.
The operator’s maintenance inspected and tested the aircraft fuel quantity system. The aircraft was then returned to service.
