Aviation Hall of Fame Moves to Calgary

Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame is moving to Calgary after 25 years at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin. The Hall’s new home will be at the Hangar Flight Museum in Calgary. Last week 15,000 artifacts were moved from Wetaskiwin to their new home and they will become part of the Hangar Flight Museum’s permanent collection. The panels that honour the dozens of inductees will be hung in the coming weeks.

Brian Desjardins, the Hangar Flight Museum’s executive director said many of the inductees have flown aircraft in the Calgary facility’s collection. “A good example I always use is Freddie McCall… one of Calgary’s main flying aces, well-known, we just happen to have a Curtiss Jenny full-replica aircraft, which he flew in the First World War,” Desjardins told CTV. It’s not clear what prompted the Hall of Fame’s move.
