A reminder of the rich heritage of the Royal Canadian Air Force will soon be jingling with your pocket change. The Royal Canadian Mint has released a toonie commemorating the 100th anniversary of the RCAF. “As Canadians go about their day, they will soon carry with them a reminder of the iconic aircraft that have carried our aviators past and present over the last century,” RCAF Cmdr. Lt.-Gen. Eric Kenny said in a statement. “Like a new coin, the future of Your Air Force is bright.”
The coin features a CC-130H, the Air Force’s current search and rescue platform, climbing below an RCAF roundel against a blue background in the centre insert. Around the ring are planforms of such historic RCAF aircraft as the F-86 Sabre, the CT-114 Tutor and the CF-100 Canuck.
