Aviation Needs 2.44 Million People – Airbus

Airbus forecasts that the global aviation industry will need to hire 2.44 million skilled people over the next 20 years to meet air travel demand, according to an October 14th press release issued in Toulouse, France, by the aerospace giant. Airbus expects passenger numbers will double to 10 billion over the same period, representing a compound annual growth rate of 3.8 percent.

Of the 2.44 million, 730,000 would be maintenance technicians, 660,000 pilots and 1,050,000 cabin crew.

“As the global fleet doubles to more than 45,550 aircraft by 2045, we need to get ready,” said Cristina Aguilar Grieder, responsible for customer service at Airbus’s commercial aircraft division. “Airbus is expanding its role as an integral services partner to support our customers across the entire aircraft life cycle. By integrating predictive operations, fleet modernization, and advanced digital solutions, we are helping airlines ensure fleet availability, reliability, safety and long-term operational excellence.”

Airbus predicts Europe (including the CIS), North America and China will remain the largest services market, while the rest of Asia is predicted to be the fastest growing, especially India.
