Helicopter Crash, Minor Injuries

Aug. 12/14-A Valhalla Helicopters Inc. Bell 206B JetRanger, C-FANC, was conducting an aerial survey for Mountain Pine Beetles approximately 25 NM west of Whitecourt, AB (CYZU) under contract to Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource. During a low level low speed turn, the aircraft experienced a loss of tail rotor effectiveness (LTE) and entered an uncontrolled spin. The aircraft came into contact with small trees and terrain; it then rolled onto its side. The pilot and 3 passengers were able to exit with minor injuries.
