Bombardier DHC-8-400 – Hydraulic Leak

C-GWUE, a Bombardier DHC-8-400 aircraft operated by WestJet Encore, was conducting flight
WEN3404 from Toronto/Lester B. Pearson Intl, ON (CYYZ) to Fredericton Intl, NB (CYFC) with 4 crew members and 58 passengers on board. During the climb out after the departure from CYYZ, the flight crew received a ROLL SPLR INBD HYD caution light passing through 14 000 feet ASL. An emergency was declared and a return to CYYZ was requested. The aircraft entered a holding pattern in order to reduce its weight for the landing, and the aircraft landed without further incident with ARFF standing by. After coming to a stop, the flight crew shut both engines down and the aircraft was towed to the terminal.
The operator’s maintenance found the hydraulic return line for the inboard spoiler dump valve leaking. The line was replaced in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and the aircraft was returned to service.
