Download/Offline Reading

For those who would like to read their magazines OFFLINE then here are some notes that will help you do just that.

Also note: Only those magazines that show the Download Link are available for this feature.

Also note: The Digital View now also has Download Icon available in the app which allows you to download available magazines while reading the magazine :

  • click the Options Button at the Top Center of the screen
  • click the Download Icon at the Right (near the top)
    • If the download file is available it will  ask you confirm the download.
    • also, for a Windows PC the file will display, but you have to choose to download the file.

Reading a document offline does limit the capabilities of the reading experience, but it can be quite good for those that just want to carry the magazine(s) with them without requiring a network connection.

IPAD or IPHONE

The best way read your magazine offline with an Apple Device is to:

  • Click the Download  Link beside the Issue you want to download.
    • The document will be displayed
  • Click the App Icon which is located to the right of the link address at the top of screen.
    • It looks like a square with a vertical arrow pointing up.
    • Click Copy to IBooks
    • Your magazine is now in the IBooks Library on your Ipad (or Iphone)
    • Close the browser window and then open IBooks and start reading.
    • A few Features:
      • Open a magazine
      • Tap the Screen to see the display options
      • The Top Left Lined Icon will show thumbnail selection
      • The bottom of the screen will show small selectable page icons.

Android Tablet or Phone

The best way read your magazine offline with an Android Device is to:

  • Click the Download Link beside the Issue you want to download.
    • The document will be downloaded onto your device.
  • If you currently don’t have an E-Reader on your device simply go to the Play Store on your device.
    • Search for e-readers
    • Adobe Acrobat or Touch Reader is quite good and its free.
  • Now simply Open your EReader.
    • In Adobe Reader there is a menu icon at the Bottom of the Screen.
      • Click the Files Menu Item.
      • Click On This Device or Local Files (depends on your version).
        • Click the Magazine you just downloaded.
  • Whenever you open the Adobe app from now on all of your Recent Magazines will be displayed for reading.
  • The Adobe app has a few features worth using:
    • Open the magazine you want to read
    • The magazine will be displayed:
      • Tap the screen to toggle the menu.
      • the page icon allows you to choose the display mode (Page by Page is recommended).
      • the Navigation icon allows you to select Thumbnails or Table of Contents to Navigate
      • The sliding Tab at the bottom allows you to quickly go through the pages

Microsoft Windows (Version 10 preferred)

The best way read your magazine offline with an Apple Device is to:

  • Click the Download Link beside the Issue you want to download.
    • The document will be displayed.
    • To Download the document simply select the Download Icon at the top of the screen
    • or
    • Right Click anywhere on the Document and select Save As.
  • The basic pdf reader that comes with windows will work fine, but if you want something a little better then Adobe Reader is really good and free.
