Rans S-6ES Coyote II Ultra-light – Landing Mishap -Flipped

C-IGOC, a Rans S-6ES Coyote II Advanced Ultra-light aircraft, was inbound to land on Runway 12 at Omemee, ON (CME2). While the aircraft was approaching the threshold of the runway, a sandhill crane encroached on the flight path of the aircraft. The pilot attempted to avoid the collision with the bird and inadvertently went into a drainage ditch beside the runway. The aircraft flipped and came to rest inverted. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured. However, the aircraft was substantially damaged.
