-A Calgary pilot and adventurer was killed in an accident in Albany, New York on June 17. Natalie Gillis, 34, was also a poet and photographer and earned her ATP in early May. She had stopped for fuel in Albany in her Navajo. The plane crashed two minutes after takeoff.

-Air Canada pilots have asked for conciliation to help break the contract logjam with their employee. The pilots are asking for parity with other major North American airlines, which all got fat raises and benefits enhancements in the past year.

-WestJet mechanics cancelled strike action as talks resumed on Thursday. The threat of a strike on Wednesday prompted the airline to cancel 50 flights. The Canada Industrial Relations Board is involved but said it wouldn’t interfere in the bargaining process while it gathers more information.
