Textron Aviation is expanding its footprint in Canada with the acquisition of Aspect Aircraft Maintenance in Calgary. Textron is focusing heavily on the business jet market with the launch of its Lattitude and Longitude mid and super midsize aircraft and the oil patch market has made Calgary a major bizjet centre. The company is also establishing a mobile service unit at Toronto Pearson International Airport (it already had one in Calgary) and created Textron Aviation Canada to manage it all.
Aspect has a long association with Textron and its ancestors Cessna and Beechcraft and looks after most Textron turbine products, in addition to Dassault and Bombardier aircraft. The brick-and-mortar facility in Calgary will give Textron a place to plant a flag in Canada. “This recent acquisition and growth plan will increase our customer’s access to factory-direct service, ensuring they have a local connection for technical support, parts and maintenance,” Kriya Shortt, Textron Aviation senior vice president of customer service, said in a news release on Tuesday.
