Trouble on Takeoff

Sept. 1/13-An amateur-built privately registered Pitts S1C, C-GYUM, was on the take-off run on Runway 03 at Yorkton. After the tail became airborne the pilot was unable to maintain directional control and the aircraft departed the left side of the runway. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and the pilot was not injured. The winds were 140 degrees at 3 knots at the time of the occurrence.
