ATAC Convention Canceled

The final nail in the coffin for the Canadian air show season came a few weeks ago with the cancellation of the Canadian International Air Show held annually in Toronto on the Labour Day weekend but the effects of the pandemic have now reached into November. The Air Transport Association of Canada has canceled its annual convention and trade show scheduled for Nov. 17-19 in Vancouver. ATAC is one of the oldest aviation groups in Canada and has been holding the annual meeting for almost a century.

“The recent announcement by the Premier outlining BC’s Restart Plan, banning large gatherings for the foreseeable future, created too much uncertainty about the possibility of holding our Conference in November for us to engage the significant resources required at this time in preparation for the Conference,” the organization said in a press release. “We also certainly do not want our exhibitors and participants to commit time and resources in preparing for our conference in this climate of uncertainty.” The group is instead focusing on the 2021 conference in Montreal from Nov. 16-18.
