ATC Returns To Mirabel Jan. 30

Air traffic control services are returning to Montreal Mirabel Airport Jan. 30 of 2020 after an aeronautical study determined the traffic warranted active control. Controllers will man the tower at Mirabel 16 hours a day from 1100 to 0300 Zulu. The tower frequency will be the current mandatory frequency of 119.1 MHz. When the tower is not operating, it will revert to Class E and transponder airspace under the supervision of flight services.

Activity at Mirabel has grown in recent years, particularly with Airbus’s assumption of the Bombardier CSeries (now A220) program. The federal government recently released acres of land at the airport for development and new enterprises are anticipated there.
