Bombardier DHC-8-100 – Smoke in Cabin

2018-04-07
C-GJIG, a Bombardier DHC-8-100 aircraft operated by Jazz Aviation LP, was conducting flight JZA756 from Rouyn-Noranda, QC (CYUY) to Montreal/Pierre Elliott Trudeau Intl, QC (CYUL) with 3 crew members and 33 passengers on board. During cruise flight, the cabin crew reported smoke coming out from the ceiling at Row 6AC. The flight crew donned their oxygen masks and declared an emergency which was later cancelled as the smoke had dissipated. The aircraft continued to destination where an uneventful landing was carried out.
Following a post flight inspection, the cabin zone temperature sensor was found to be faulty. The sensor was replaced as per Aircraft Maintenance Manual 21-60-44 and the aircraft was returned to service.
