Canada Post has issued a set of five stamps commemorating Canadians in Flight. The corporation said this is the second instalment of its aviation series and was “developed with the support of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, as well as the Ottawa chapter of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society.”

The stamps feature Vi Milstead, who was one of Canada’s first female bush pilots and ferried military aircraft in the Second World War. The series also features the DHC-2 Beaver, which was named as one of Canada’s top engineering achievements of the 20th century, the CAE simulator, which is the industry standard worldwide, Wallace Rupert Turnbull and the development of the variable pitch propeller and Wilbur R. Franks and the invention of the G-suit. They will be available at Canada Post outlets Oct. 17.
