Coffee Pot Emergency

Aug. 20/14-The Boeing 767-300, C-GHLT, operated by Air Canada as Flight ACA047 was en route to Honolulu from Vancouver when the flight crew declared an emergency with Oakland Center due to smoke and a burning smell in the cabin. The aircraft returned to Vancouver and requested ARFF. Flight ACA047 landed on Runway 26L at 0130z. The runway was closed for about 9 minutes with minimal impact. The company determined that the source of the smoke and smell was a coffee pot.
