June 9/14-The private Quad City Challenger II C-IMOE, on amphibious floats, departed from CYEE Midland/Huronia Airport for a local flight with only the pilot on board. During an attempted landing on Runway 34 the aircraft struck the runway hard breaking off the nose gear and collapsing the float supports before impacting the runway surface with the fuselage. The aircraft skidded to a stop approximately 160 feet from the impact location. The pilot sustained fatal injuries.
