Hughes 369D Helicopter – Tail Rotor Contacted Snow

2018-03-28
C-FBVH, a Hughes 369D aircraft operated by Oceanview Helicopters, was conducting animal
capture work near Revelstoke, BC (CYRV). During a landing in deep snow, the tail rotor contacted the snow. The pilot, who was the only person on board, was not injured.
The operator’s maintenance attended the site and found that only the tail rotor driveshaft had
visible damage. The driveshaft was replaced and, as a precaution, the tail boom, tail rotor gearbox and tail rotor assembly were also replaced.
