JetBlue To Fly First Canadian Route

U.S. budget carrier JetBlue will dip its toe in the Canadian market with its first-ever flights to a Canadian airport in 2022. The airline will begin non-stop flights from Vancouver to Boston and JFK in New York to fill gaps in service that have been left by Cathay Pacific’s abandonment of the route in 2020. Likewise Air Canada has abandoned its once weekly Vancouver to Boston direct flight. Most Canadians get to New York and Boston through Toronto.

Jet Blue will use an A320 Neo on the routes and is waiting for the border to reopen before announcing dates. “We’re delighted that JetBlue has selected Vancouver as its first Canadian destination. As we move through the pandemic and prepare for a safe and healthy return to non-essential travel, this new service, scheduled for Summer 2022, gives us all something to look forward to.” Tamara Vrooman, Vancouver Airport Authority CEO said.
