Keewatin Air – Beech B200 – Autofeather Failure

2019-10-18
C-FZPW, a Beech B200 operated by Keewatin Air, was operating flight KEW206 from Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson Intl (CYWG), MB to Rankin Inlet (CYRT), NU. During the takeoff from runway 18 in CYWG, the flight crew noted that the autofeather system failed to arm on the left engine, and executed a rejected take off. The aircraft subsequently taxied off the runway and to a run up area. This had been the first takeoff of the day and the autofeather had been tested serviceable during the run-up. The autofeather was again tested at the run up area and tested
serviceable.
The aircraft was then removed from service. A subsequent maintenance inspection revealed that the R/H auto feather power lever switch (S158) had failed open. The aircraft has been returned to service under IAW MEL# 61-04-1 Cat “C” 10 days.
