Super Cub Ground Loops

April 27/13The pilot of the Piper PA-18-150, C-GZLY, was conducting circuits on Runway 31L at Whitehorse, YT (CYXY). Just prior to touching down, the pilot corrected for a right wing drop and the aircraft touched down shortly after. The pilot could not maintain directional control and the aircraft ground looped to the left. The aircraft nosed over in soft gravel as the aircraft departed the paved surface of the runway. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, sustained minor injuries; the aircraft was substantially damaged. Winds at the time of the occurrence were out of the southwest at 3 to 5 knots.
