Vintage Wings Cornell Damaged

May 2/13-The Fairchild Fleet Cornell aircraft, registered CF-YQR, owned by Vintage Wings of Canada took off from Gatineau airport for a VFR local flight. The crew was practicing a forced landing when, following a missed approach, the engine ( Fairchild 6-440-C5) lost power at about 700 agl. During the forced landing in a soft field, the landing gear broke off but the aircraft remained upright. The ELT activated. Both crew members had minor injuries. Vintage Wings will perfom an examination and investigate the cause of the engine stoppage. The aircraft had just come out of it’s annual inspection and it was its first flight of the season.
