Pratt & Whitney Canada announced last week that it is now marketing its newest engine, the PT9. The centreline turboprop engine reduces fuel consumption by 20 percent while delivering 33 percent more horsepower than previous engines.
“The PT9 engine represents the next evolution of turboprop propulsion, delivering significant advances in performance, efficiency and adaptability to meet the needs of modern aviation,” said P&WC president Satheeshkumar Kumarasingam, who took over the top job from Maria Della Posta last June. “The PT9 engine is ideal for high-demand missions and can be easily tailored to diverse airframe types,” he added.
Production of the engine will be at the company’s global Centre of Excellence for the PT6 family of engines located in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Pratt & Whitney Canada, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a division of U.S. company Pratt and Whitney, which is owned by RTX Corporation, also a U.S. corporation.
