2018-04-27
C-GCIJ, a Boeing 767-300 aircraft operated by Cargojet Airways, was conducting flight CJT620 from Greater Moncton/Romeo Leblanc Intl, NB (CYQM) to St. John’s Intl, NL (CYYT). While unloading cargo after the landing in CYYT, the staff discovered a mail bag containing a liquid spill. Upon investigating, a package was discovered to have contained two cans with Evotherm M1. This
substance is a Class 9 dangerous goods, Environmentally Hazardous Substance, Liquid, N.O.S. (Fatty Amine Derivatives) marine pollutant. One of the cans had leaked its entire content, equal to approximately one liter. The dangerous goods were not declared by the shipper.
The operator’s maintenance inspected the cargo compartment and cleaned up the spill. The aircraft was then returned to service. The contracting company cleaned the unit load device and will conduct an undeclared dangerous goods follow up with the shipper.
