Harv’s Air – Beech D95A – Landing Gear Failure – Belly Landing

2018-08-16
C-FVJC, a Harv’s Air Service, Beech D95A was on a local training flight at the Steinbach, MB airport (CJB3) with a student and instructor pilot on board. While on approach and the landing gear selected in the down position, the landing gear extended only half way. A manual gear extension was performed, but the gear did not extend fully. The aircraft then landed on grass with the landing gear partially extended and the aircraft eventually settled onto its belly. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
An inspection by the operator’s maintenance of the landing system revealed a failure of the landing gear actuator gearbox.
