Successful Off-Airport Landing

July 5/14-The private amateur built Sonex C-GZVI was enroute to CPK2 Strathroy from CYRP Ottawa Carp when the engine (Jabiru 2200) began to operate irregularly. In descent the engine surged several times before stopping completely at 500 ft AGL. The aircraft landed in a field 1nm short of the runway at CPK2. The aircraft was not damaged and the pilot, the sole occupant, was uninjured.
