Aero Commander – Fuel Exhaustion – Forced Landing

2018-04-15
C-GSAJ, a privately operated Aero Commander 112TCA, was conducting a flight from
Vancouver/Boundary Bay, BC (CZBB) to Pitt Meadows, BC (CYPK) with only the pilot on board. During the final approach to Runway 26L at CYPK, the pilot complied with ATC’s instruction to conduct a 360° turn for aircraft spacing. Once established again on short final, the engine stopped due to fuel exhaustion. The pilot conducted a forced landing in a grass field about 1000 feet short of the runway threshold. There was no damage and the pilot was not injured.
