Planning and preparations continue for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the RCAF, which will occur in 2024. It was in July 2021 that then-RCAF commander LGen Al Meinzinger, together with the RCAF’s Command CWO John Hall revealed the anniversary’s logo.

“We are quickly approaching the dawn of our next century,” said LGen Meinzinger at the time. “This logo represents our tremendous past, our dynamic present and our bright future.”

Fast forward 16 months and excitement is building at CFB Borden in Ontario.
“Base Borden is the birthplace of the RCAF, so it’s exceptionally important that Borden hold the activities they are doing,” said Col Maggie Jacula, who leads the celebration preparations. “They are definitely leading the way in getting ready for this centennial.”

An air show planned for June 2024 is expected to play a key role in the celebrations. According to Dr. Andrew Gregory, associated with CFB Borden’s base museum, “1,884 pilots passed through Borden, and you can’t talk about the air war in Western Europe in the latter half of 1917 and in 1918 without thinking about Borden’s contribution to victory”
