In our May 20, 2023 newsletter we reported to you on Transport Canada’s Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA 2023-005) to the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) that would, among other things, tighten criteria used for defining visual and instrument meteorological conditions (VMC and IMC, respectively). The consultation period was originally due to end on June 5. However, due at least in part to efforts by COPA’s new CEO Mark van Berkel, the consultation period has been extended to July 6, 2023.
“This is a positive step in the right direction as it provides us more time to further analyze the NPA, to formulate a much more studied and contemplated response, and to continue the dialog with Transport Canada which has been needed,” said van Berkel in an email to COPA members on May 30.
